Apprentice Training Program:

Our apprenticeship program is registered with the State of Maryland. It is the most viable apprenticeship program for sprinkler fitters in the state in consistently producing tomorrow's top journeymen sprinkler fitters. Apprentices undergo a five-year training program consisting of over 720 hours of classroom training and 10,000 hours of on the job training. Apprentices are required to maintain a 70% or better grade point average in the classroom and are monitored in the field by monthly performance evaluations.

Our Joint Apprenticeship Committee consisting of both labor and industry representatives develop and monitor our training program to ensure that the contactors' concerns in today's market are met.

Apprentice Instructors are not only qualified journeymen, but are U.A. certified and are sent to the U.A. Instructor Training Program to learn the latest teaching methods and technological advances in the industry. While working in the field, the apprentice is assured expert training by working alongside and learning from certified journeymen.

Apprentices are taught a wide range of courses to enhance their field training such as Blue Print Reading, Types of Systems, Fire Pumps, NFPA 13, Alarms, Testing, and Customer Relations, among other courses. Apprentices also are trained in the use of pneumatic and powder actuated tools; certified in the use of aerial platforms and lifts; and learn burning, cutting, soldering, and brazing. Most importantly, apprentices are trained and certified in First Aid and CPR.
